Comprensive School Health & Wellness
Team vision: Cortland City Schools will work with staff, students, families, and the community to produce healthier children who are better learners and higher achievers as a result of addressing the Centers for Disease Control's identified risk factors through a CSHW program.
Family Reading Partnership
Family Reading Partnership of Cortland County is a coalition of individuals, businesses, schools, libraries and other organizations who have joined together to “create a culture of literacy” by promoting family reading practices throughout our community. 2009-2010 Family Reading Partnership programs: Books at Birth...Bright Red Bookshelf...Give the Gift of Family Reading... Bridge to Sucess
Summer transition program designed to bridge the gap between elementary and junior high school. The program is designed to provide transition and first year support for students in the Jr.-Sr. high school building as well as provide parents with an increased awareness of and connection to the secondary building, faculty, staff, and programs.
Instructional Support Team
IST (Instructional Support Team) is a group of educators working together as effective problem-solvers to develop interventions that will promote improvements in a student's school performance.
Liberty Partnership Program
L.P.P. (Liberty Partnership Program) is a support program developed for the purpose of responding to the academic, social, and personal needs of a student population at risk of leaving school before graduation. L.P.P. provides support through mentoring, career exploration, social development and academic tutoring.
Peer Education
P.H.P. (People Helping People) and S., D., R. & R. (Sex, Drugs, Rock-n-Roll) are peer education courses addressing chemical substances, postponing sexual involvement and refusal skills. Enrollment in both courses within the health department is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Presentations and education activities are prepared and delivered for students in grades 5 & 8.
Tutorial Assistance Progarm
T.A.P. (Tutorial Assistance Program) is a tutoring service offered on campus in collaboration with the City Youth Bureau.
Universal Pre-Kindergarten
U.P.K. (Universal Pre-Kindergarten) is a free pre-kindergarten program for eligible four-year old children. The program provides fun activities and nutritious meals in safe, neighborhood centers for the purpose of promoting early education and independence through creative play experience with other children under the supervision of caring, professional staff.
